Tile roofs are a classic, but effective way to ensure that you have a great looking roof. As we mentioned on the home page there are certain areas of the country where installing tile roofs may not be a great idea. Tiles are usually not compressed into the structure of the roof. That means it is easier for them to break off. That is not a problem though that you are going to have here in Irvine. The weather is typically decent even on bad weather days. To the point, where you really don’t have to worry about your tiles at all.
Not All Tiles Are The Same
In the shingle page we talked about not all shingles being the same, we can say something similar about tiles. We know that a lot of people, especially in this area associate tiles with that hacienda look that many buildings in and around this area boast. This is not the only look though, that you can pull off with tile roofs. Also, we are going to want a very solid even heavy type of tile that is properly made. If we install quality tiles correctly they can stay up even after we are gone. It is really important to know what you are actually buying!
What Would I Need To Worry About?
The only thing that we can think about, and reasonably say, maybe a tile roof will not be a good idea is if we have an odd-shaped roof. We would have to modify the entire roof structure to make it better fit to add tile. This is something that we can do, but it is not one of those things that can just be done easily, sort of like a plugin and play feature. That would be the only instance though where we would be worried about tiles. As we mentioned, the weather around here is not a major factor. So, it’s really no big deal!
Total Roof Replacement Or Not
If you have a tile roof there is a good chance that you will come to a point where you have a couple of damaged or maybe even missing tiles. When this happens you may naturally start thinking about figuring out whether or not you should ultimately upgrade your roofing. There are actually ways that we can make simple repairs that can really make the entire roof look a lot better. Without you necessarily having to dish out a lot of money in a full replacement procedure.
How Long Is My Tile Roof Set To Last?
Tile roofs are typically going to last double, what you can expect shingle roofs to last. So, the number typically sits right around 50 years. Having said this, getting to those 50 years is easier in some areas than in others. From what we have seen locally most tile roofs are going to be replaced well before they have to. That is more due to a change of heart by the owner. Not really the tiles tearing apart!
